CFAO Retail is deploying an ambitious strategy of developing retail banners in partnership with Carrefour in three sub-Saharan African countries. The fruit of a combination of business know-how and in-depth knowledge of African distribution channels, CFAO Retail offers a product range tailored to each of the territories in which it operates.

By deploying PlaYce shopping centers, Carrefour Market banners and Supeco stores in Senegal, Cameroon and Côte d'Ivoire, the CFAO group is responding to new modern consumer needs expressed by a demanding clientele seeking access to a wide range of products at controlled prices.

 

The emergence of an essentially urban middle class in Africa is boosting this retail activity, which is now becoming one of the driving forces behind the continent's economies. In all three countries, the development of a modern consumer offer is already generating marked economic dynamism in the fields of infrastructure, secure supply chains, electronic payment solutions and innovation.

In each of these countries, CFAO Retail is a committed player in the local economy, investing in and developing agri-food chains whose products are sold in Group-managed banners. This commitment guarantees product traceability thanks to controlled origin.

With nearly 2.5 billion inhabitants by 2050, consumption in Africa already represents the market of the 21st century.

When you enter the mall, its architecture suggests a host of words inherited from Africa: earthy colors, natural wood, sun, shade, skylights, ambience, warmth, space... all with great pleasure and positioned as a real place to live!

Already present in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, PlaYce Yaoundé will open its doors in a few months' time!

Why this name?

The PlaYce shopping center developed by CFAO Retail has been designed with a view to making it a unique place to live, appreciated by its visitors. It is THE central PLACE in a city, a place to gather and exchange.

These exchanges are symbolized by placing a "Y" at the heart of the word Place (capitalized, because this Y is important to us). It represents the well-known "Like" emoticon, the thumbs-up used in the coded language of social networking. It symbolizes the close ties we'll be forging with our Cameroonian customers to get to know them better and serve them better. It also symbolizes our ambition to satisfy the many customers who love our Facebook page and follow us on our website... because it's through these tools that we've chosen to forge links and interact with our customers. The name PlaYce was born from the combination of the word "Place" and the emoticon "Y".
